A queen size latex mattress topper is a 2- or 3-inch layer of natural latex that sits on top of your existing mattress to change its feel. Whether your current mattress is too firm, has lost its original comfort, or you simply want a softer sleeping surface, a queen latex topper is the most affordable way to get there without buying a new mattress.

A latex topper solves specific problems. It is the right choice when:
A topper is not a fix for a mattress that is sagging or has lost its structural support. If you push down on your mattress and it does not spring back, the core is worn out and a topper will just conform to the problem. In that case, replacing the mattress is the better investment. Our Natural Latex Mattress is built to last 15-20 years.
The firmness of your topper should match your primary sleep position:
Side sleepers need a softer topper to cushion the shoulders and hips, the two main pressure points when sleeping on your side. Soft Talalay latex in the 14–19 ILD range provides the best pressure relief. A 3-inch soft Talalay topper on a firm mattress creates a plush-on-supportive feel that side sleepers consistently rate as comfortable.
Back sleepers need moderate cushioning with enough support to maintain the natural lumbar curve. Medium firmness (30–32 ILD) in either Talalay or Dunlop works well. The topper should let the hips settle in slightly without creating a hammock effect.
Stomach sleepers need the firmest topper option (30–32 ILD) to prevent the pelvis from sinking and straining the lower back. Dunlop latex is generally the better choice for stomach sleepers because of its denser, more supportive feel.
Combination sleepers who change positions throughout the night should choose a medium firmness that does not favor any single position too strongly.
Talalay and Dunlop are the two manufacturing methods for natural latex. Each produces a distinct feel:
Talalay is lighter, more buoyant, and has a consistent cell structure throughout. It excels at pressure relief and feels more luxurious. For toppers specifically, Talalay is the preferred choice when your goal is softness. A soft Talalay topper is the gold standard for turning a firm mattress into a plush one.
Dunlop is denser and more supportive. It works better when you want to add firmness to a mattress that has gotten too soft over time, or when you need a supportive topper for stomach or back sleeping.
Queen latex toppers come in 2-inch and 3-inch thicknesses. For most people, 3 inches is the right choice.
A 3-inch topper creates a distinct comfort layer that you genuinely feel. It provides enough depth for your body to settle in and experience the pressure-relieving properties of the latex. This is the thickness that makes a real difference.
A 2-inch topper is only appropriate when your mattress is already almost perfect and you want a subtle refinement. If you are buying a topper because something is noticeably off about your sleep surface, 2 inches will not go far enough.
A natural latex topper lasts 8 to 12 years with proper care. Protection starts with two layers:
A topper cover wraps the raw latex in organic cotton, protecting it from tears during handling and keeping it clean. We install the cover before shipping so your topper arrives ready to use.
A mattress protector goes over the topper and mattress together. Choose a breathable, waterproof protector to guard against spills and moisture while maintaining the airflow that makes latex sleep cool. This is especially important if children or pets share the bed.
Rotate your topper every three months, flip it upside down and rotate head-to-foot. This distributes wear evenly and prevents body impressions from forming in one area.
A queen latex topper measures 60″ x 80″, matching standard queen mattress dimensions. A 3-inch queen Talalay topper weighs approximately 30 to 40 pounds. Dunlop toppers of the same size weigh slightly more due to higher density. Both are manageable for one person to handle.
When you change your mattress feel with a topper, your pillow may need adjustment too. A softer topper lets your shoulder sink in more, which changes the height your pillow needs to fill. Our Natural Shredded Latex Pillow has adjustable fill, letting you add or remove shredded latex to dial in the perfect loft for your new sleeping surface.
A standard queen topper measures 60″ x 80″. This matches all standard queen mattresses. There are no variations in queen sizing like there are with king/California king.
It depends on your goal. If you want to soften a firm mattress, choose X-Soft Talalay (14–19 ILD). If you want to add support to an aging mattress, choose medium or firm Dunlop (30–32 or 37–40 ILD). Side sleepers almost always prefer the soft option.
Yes. A latex topper works on any mattress type, including memory foam, innerspring, and hybrid. It adds its own responsive, breathable characteristics on top of whatever is beneath it.
Three inches for most people. This thickness creates a meaningful change in how your mattress feels. Choose 2 inches only if your mattress is already nearly perfect and you want a very subtle adjustment.
Natural latex has a naturally grippy surface that resists sliding. A fitted sheet over the topper and mattress together adds additional hold. If you use a topper cover, the organic cotton fabric also provides friction against the mattress surface.
If your current mattress still has good structural support, a topper can transform the feel for a fraction of the cost of a new mattress. If your mattress is sagging or the core support is failing, a topper will not fix the underlying problem and you should invest in a new mattress instead.
