Latex Mattress Foundation

A proper foundation isn’t just recommended, it’s essential. Natural latex mattresses are significantly heavier than conventional mattresses (a Queen can weigh over 100 lbs). A foundation with closely spaced slats (3″ or less) provides the uniform support that prevents sagging and extends your mattress life.If you already have a platform bed or slatted base with slats no more than 3″ apart, you may not need a separate foundation. But if your current setup has wider gaps, a box spring, or no slat support, upgrading to a proper foundation is the single best thing you can do for your mattress.

Both heights use identical construction, same solid white pine, same slat spacing, same cotton-and-wool cover. The only difference is overall height:5″ Low Profile: Best for platform beds, beds with tall side rails, children’s rooms, or anyone who prefers a lower sleep surface.8″ Standard Profile: Traditional height that works with most bed frames. This is our most popular option. If you’re replacing a standard box spring, the 8″ is usually the right choice.Both are the same price, so choose based on what works best for your bed frame and preference.

Yes. Our foundation is designed to fit any standard bed frame, just like a box spring would. It works with:

• Metal bed frames: the most common setup
• Wooden bed frames: with or without a center support
• Platform beds: the low-profile 5″ option is ideal
• Adjustable bases: not compatible; use the base on its own

Absolutely. While we designed it with heavy latex mattresses in mind, it works beautifully with any mattress type, memory foam, hybrid, innerspring, or pocketed coil. The solid slat construction provides better support than a box spring for any mattress.

Most customers complete assembly in 30–45 minutes. The foundation ships flat in a compact box with all hardware included. You’ll slide the slats into place and secure the frame, no special tools required beyond what’s in the box. Two people make it faster, but one person can handle it.

We ship free via UPS Ground to the continental United States. The foundation arrives in a compact box:

• Twin/Twin XL: 70 × 13 × 12″ box
• Full/Queen/Cal King: 77 × 13 × 12″ box
• King: Two Twin XL boxes (two Twin XL foundations make up a King)

Contact us immediately and we’ll ship a replacement at no cost. We package each foundation carefully to prevent shipping damage, but UPS handles millions of packages, occasionally things happen. We’ll make it right.

We use 100% untreated S4S (surfaced 4 sides) premium euro white pine. This is real, solid wood, not particle board, plywood, or MDF. White pine is naturally strong, lightweight relative to its strength, and does not require chemical treatments to perform well indoors.

The cotton-and-wool cover serves two purposes: it protects the wood and acts as a natural flame barrier. Wool is naturally flame resistant, it chars rather than melts or catches fire. This means we don’t need to spray the foundation with chemical flame retardants (which most conventional foundations use). The result is a cleaner, healthier product in your bedroom.

Very little maintenance is needed. The foundation goes inside your bed frame and under your mattress, so it stays clean. If you ever need to clean the cover, spot-clean with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking the wood. When moving, disassemble and re-pack, the RTA design makes it easy to move to a new home.
