Built to Last
A natural latex mattress can weigh over 170 pounds. Most foundations aren’t designed for that kind of weight. Ours is. Every slat is solid, untreated premium white pine with no more than 2.5 inches of spacing, providing uniform support that prevents sagging and extends the life of your mattress. The cotton-and-wool cover keeps everything clean and free of harmful chemicals. No particle board. No cheap staples. No toxic flame retardants. Just real wood, real fabric, and a foundation that does its job for decades.
Box springs were designed for innerspring mattresses. Your latex mattress needs something better.

This foundation is incredibly solid. Assembly was straightforward and it supports our heavy latex mattress perfectly. No creaking, no wobble. Exactly what we needed.
We bought this with our Sleeping Organic mattress and it’s the perfect pair. The slat spacing is ideal for latex, and I love that there are no harmful chemicals. Very happy with the quality.

Three simple, honest materials. Nothing else.
Premium White Pine
S4S (surfaced 4 sides) untreated euro white pine. No particle board, no plywood, no MDF. Just real, solid wood.
Organic Cotton
The outer cover is made from natural cotton. Breathable, durable, and free of pesticide residues.
Eco-Wool
Quilted into the cover as a natural flame barrier. No chemical flame retardants needed, just wool doing what wool does.
Easy Assembly
Our RTA (ready to assemble) foundation ships flat in a compact UPS box, no freight truck, no special delivery. Everything you need is in the box. Slide the slats into place, secure the frame, and you’re done. Two people make it easier, but it’s simple enough for one. Solid, stable, and ready for your mattress.
Optional Add-On
Elevate your foundation with 5″ tapered solid wood legs and brass ferrules. Adds clearance for under-bed storage and gives your setup a finished, modern look. Easy screw-in installation, no tools required.
The wrong base can void your warranty, cause premature sagging, and trap moisture under your mattress.
Latex mattresses are heavier than conventional mattresses. Slats spaced more than 3″ apart let the latex sag between gaps, creating pressure points and shortening mattress life.
Natural latex breathes, but only if air can circulate beneath it. Our open slat design promotes airflow that keeps your mattress dry and fresh year after year.
Many mattress warranties require a proper foundation with slats no more than 3″ apart. Our foundation is designed to meet that standard.
We stand behind every foundation we build.

Shop TopperEverything you need to know about our Premium RTA Mattress Foundation.
A proper foundation isn’t just recommended, it’s essential. Natural latex mattresses are significantly heavier than conventional mattresses (a Queen can weigh over 100 lbs). A foundation with closely spaced slats (3″ or less) provides the uniform support that prevents sagging and extends your mattress life.If you already have a platform bed or slatted base with slats no more than 3″ apart, you may not need a separate foundation. But if your current setup has wider gaps, a box spring, or no slat support, upgrading to a proper foundation is the single best thing you can do for your mattress.
The Premium RTA foundation comes in our classic 8″ standard profile, the traditional height that works with most bed frames. If you’re replacing a standard box spring, this is the right choice. If you want a lower sleep surface, for a platform bed, tall side rails, or a kids’ room, our Heavy-Duty Mattress Foundation is available in a 5.5″ low profile as well as the 8″ standard, and adds a reinforced frame rated for heavier sleep systems.
Yes. Our foundation is designed to fit any standard bed frame, just like a box spring would. It works with:
Absolutely. While we designed it with heavy latex mattresses in mind, it works beautifully with any mattress type, memory foam, hybrid, innerspring, or pocketed coil. The solid slat construction provides better support than a box spring for any mattress.
Most customers complete assembly in 30–45 minutes. The foundation ships flat in a compact box with all hardware included. You’ll slide the slats into place and secure the frame, no special tools required beyond what’s in the box. Two people make it faster, but one person can handle it.
We ship free via UPS Ground to the continental United States. The foundation arrives in a compact box:
Contact us immediately and we’ll ship a replacement at no cost. We package each foundation carefully to prevent shipping damage, but UPS handles millions of packages, occasionally things happen. We’ll make it right.
We use 100% untreated S4S (surfaced 4 sides) premium euro white pine. This is real, solid wood, not particle board, plywood, or MDF. White pine is naturally strong, lightweight relative to its strength, and does not require chemical treatments to perform well indoors.
The cotton-and-wool cover serves two purposes: it protects the wood and acts as a natural flame barrier. Wool is naturally flame resistant, it chars rather than melts or catches fire. This means we don’t need to spray the foundation with chemical flame retardants (which most conventional foundations use). The result is a cleaner, healthier product in your bedroom.
Very little maintenance is needed. The foundation goes inside your bed frame and under your mattress, so it stays clean. If you ever need to clean the cover, spot-clean with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking the wood. When moving, disassemble and re-pack, the RTA design makes it easy to move to a new home.
Real Materials Matter
