A family-owned mattress company handcrafting 100% natural latex mattresses since 2005.
How It Started
Sleeping Organic was founded in 2005 with a simple belief: you shouldn’t have to choose between a healthy mattress and a comfortable one. What began as a small operation in Charleston, South Carolina has grown into a direct-to-consumer brand trusted by thousands of customers across the United States.
We started making mattresses because we couldn’t find one we trusted. The mattress industry is full of synthetic foams, chemical flame retardants, and misleading “natural” labels. We wanted something different: a mattress made from real, verifiable materials that we’d feel good sleeping on ourselves.
What We Do Differently
Handcrafted in the USA
Every mattress is built by hand in our North Charleston workshop. We don’t outsource manufacturing or use third-party fulfillment. When you order, our team builds your mattress to your exact specifications.
100% Natural Materials
We use just three materials: 100% natural latex (Talalay and GOLS-certified organic Dunlop), organic cotton, and natural wool. No polyurethane foam, no synthetic latex blends, no chemical fire retardants.
Fully Customizable
Every mattress is built layer by layer to match your body, sleep position, and firmness preference. Couples can even split each side for different configurations, at no extra charge.
Direct to You
By manufacturing in-house and selling direct to consumer, we cut out the retail markup. You get a premium organic mattress at a fair price, shipped free to your door.
Materials We Trust
Transparency matters. Here’s exactly what goes into every Sleeping Organic mattress:
- GOLS Certified Organic Dunlop Latex. Harvested from rubber trees, processed without synthetic additives, and certified to the Global Organic Latex Standard.
- 100% Natural Talalay Latex. A softer, cloud-like feel ideal for comfort layers. Made from pure rubber tree sap with no synthetic fillers.
- Organic Cotton. Grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, used for our zip-off mattress covers.
- Natural Wool. Eco-wool batting serves as a natural temperature regulator and meets federal fire safety requirements without chemical flame retardants.
Our Process
Every mattress is built to order at our North Charleston workshop. You choose the firmness for every layer, and our team assembles it by hand. No showroom floor models, no warehouse stock. Just your custom configuration, built fresh and shipped direct.
