The Bed Frame Built for Heavy Mattresses

A natural latex mattress can weigh over 170 pounds, and most bed frames aren’t designed for that. The Knickerbocker is. Heavy-duty steel construction with a reinforced center support distributes weight evenly across the entire frame. No wobble. No sag. No noise. Just a solid, American-made platform that does its job quietly for years. Tool-free assembly means you’ll have it set up in minutes, not hours.

Why Your Bed Frame Matters

The right frame protects your mattress investment and keeps your foundation stable for years.

Weight Distribution

Natural latex mattresses are significantly heavier than conventional mattresses. The Knickerbocker evenly distributes weight across the entire frame, preventing stress points that cause sagging and noise.

Stability

A wobbly frame means a wobbly mattress. The reinforced center support and heavy-duty steel construction eliminate movement and noise, so you sleep undisturbed.

Longevity

Cheap frames bend and break under heavy mattresses. The Knickerbocker is built to handle the load for years without compromising support or structural integrity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Knickerbocker Bed Frame.

Bed Frame Basics

Do I need a bed frame?

A bed frame lifts your foundation and mattress off the floor, providing stability and protecting your investment. Without a proper frame, your foundation can shift, slide, and wear unevenly. A frame also improves airflow under your mattress, important for preventing moisture buildup, especially with natural latex. If you’re using a platform bed with built-in support, you may not need a separate frame. But if you’re using a standalone foundation or box spring, a quality bed frame is essential.

Will this frame work with my foundation?

Yes. The Knickerbocker is designed to work with any standard foundation, box spring, or mattress setup. It’s compatible with:

Our Heavy-Duty Latex Mattress Foundation: the ideal pairing
Standard box springs: drop-in replacement for your old frame
Any standard-size mattress: latex, hybrid, memory foam, or innerspring

Simply select the size that matches your mattress.

How much weight can it support?

The Knickerbocker is built with heavy-duty steel and a reinforced center support designed to handle significant weight. It comfortably supports even our heaviest latex mattress and foundation combinations, well over 200 lbs of bedding plus sleepers.

How tall is the frame?

The Knickerbocker (Engauge model) stands about 7" tall overall and leaves about 6.75" of clearance under the frame. To get your total bed height, add the height of your foundation and mattress.

Assembly & Shipping

How long does assembly take?

Just a few minutes. The Knickerbocker features tool-free assembly, no wrenches, no screwdrivers, no hardware to fumble with. Unfold, lock into place, and you’re done. One person can set it up easily.

How does shipping work?

We ship free via UPS Ground to the continental United States. The frame ships in a compact box and typically arrives within 5–10 business days depending on your location. Orders usually ship within 2–4 business days.

What if my frame arrives damaged?

Contact us immediately and we’ll ship a replacement at no cost. We package every frame carefully, but if something arrives damaged, we’ll make it right.
