Rio 4.0: why it outsells everything else

Ergomotion told us directly that the Rio 4.0 is one of their two best-selling models, and the reasons are practical. The massage motors are quiet enough to use while your partner sleeps, and a three-intensity timer makes it an easy wind-down habit. The USB-A and USB-C ports on both sides solve the perpetual nightstand-charger problem. And three memory presets mean your reading position, your TV position, and your sleep position each get their own button.

Rio 5.0: when support matters more than features

The Rio 5.0 is the only Rio that changes how your body is supported, not just what position you are in. Adjustable lumbar support fills the gap under your lower back in any position. Automatic head tilt cradles your neck as the head section rises, so you sit upright without sliding down the bed or stacking pillows. An anti-snore preset gently elevates the head at one touch.

What about height adjustment?

None of the Rios raise or lower the whole bed. If you or someone you care for needs help getting in and out of bed, or a caregiver needs the bed at working height, look at the Ergomotion Ascend instead. Is the Rio 4.0 worth it over the 3.0?

If you will use massage or bedside USB charging even a few nights a week, yes. Those two features are the whole difference, along with two extra memory presets. If neither matters to you, save the $600 and take the 3.0.

Is the Rio 5.0 worth it over the 4.0?

The 5.0 is for specific needs: lower-back support in raised positions, upright reading without neck strain, snoring, or wanting the bed to stay near the wall. If none of those apply, the 4.0 covers everything most people use nightly.

Do all three work with the same mattresses?

Yes. Any mattress designed to flex works on any Rio. Natural latex is the best match; traditional innerspring mattresses with rigid border rods should not be used on an adjustable base.

What is the warranty on Rio bases?

Can I get a King size?

King sleepers order a Split King, which is two Twin XL bases side by side totaling the exact size of a King. Each side articulates independently, which is exactly what most couples want anyway.
