I put this on top of my old innerspring and the difference is night and day. Shoulder pain gone within a week. Should have done this years ago instead of buying cheap foam toppers that flatten in months.
We put Talalay soft toppers on both guest beds. Every visitor now comments on how comfortable they are. Great quality, no chemical smell, and the price was very fair for 100% natural latex.
Latex types
Both come in 2-inch and 3-inch thicknesses. Choose the feel that suits your bed.
A buoyant, responsive feel. Choose it for softer comfort and pressure relief.
100% natural latex · X-Soft through X-Firm
A denser, more grounded feel. Choose it for steadier support and firmer comfort.
GOLS-certified organic latex · Soft through X-Firm
Talalay latex is whipped into a foam, poured into a mold, vacuum expanded, flash frozen, and then baked. That extra processing creates a consistent, airy cell structure with a springy, buoyant feel. A Talalay latex topper cushions shoulders and hips without the sunk-in feeling of memory foam, and its open cells breathe better than any dense foam, so it sleeps cool.
Choose Talalay if you sleep on your side, wake up with shoulder or hip pressure, or want a plush pillow-top feel on a mattress that is too firm. Our X-Soft/Extra Soft option (ILD 14–19) is only made in Talalay, and it is the softest natural topper we offer. The best Talalay latex mattress topper for you comes down to matching firmness to your body and sleep position: use the firmness guide below or get a personal recommendation.
Dunlop latex is poured and baked in a single step, which makes a denser, more grounded foam. Our Dunlop is GOLS certified organic and runs from Soft 19–22 through X-Firm/Extra Firm 44. X-Firm is available in both Talalay and Dunlop; only X-Soft/Extra Soft is Talalay-only. Choose Dunlop if you sleep on your back or stomach, want a firmer surface on a mattress with sound underlying support, or simply prefer solid support over spring.

Firmness, sleep position, body weight, and pain points. Four factors that determine your perfect topper.
Firmness
Your topper’s firmness determines whether it adds plush cushioning or supportive structure to your current mattress. We offer five levels so you can match exactly what your bed is missing.
ILD measures foam firmness: higher numbers feel firmer. Our topper choices are X-Soft/Extra Soft Talalay (ILD 14–19), Soft (ILD 19–22), Medium (ILD 30–32), Firm (ILD 37–40), and X-Firm/Extra Firm (ILD 44). X-Soft is available only in Talalay; the other listed grades are available in Talalay and Dunlop.
Adds comfort without dramatically changing your mattress feel.
Creates a pillow-top feel or a major firmness adjustment.
Sleep Position
Start with the position you sleep in most of the night, then fine-tune firmness and thickness in the topper builder.
You need cushioning to protect shoulders and hips. A soft topper on a firm mattress can be transformative.
You need balanced support that keeps the spine aligned. A medium topper adds enough contouring without changing the mattress too much.
A firmer surface helps prevent your hips from sinking and protects your lower back from strain.
Combination sleeper? A responsive Talalay topper adapts as you switch positions throughout the night.
Body Weight
Body weight changes how a topper feels. A 130-lb person and a 250-lb person experience the same firmness very differently. Heavier sleepers compress foam more, so a “medium” topper may feel soft.
For heavier sleepers, we often recommend going one firmness level above what feels right in a showroom. A 3-inch topper also provides more material to work with, preventing bottoming out.
Pain Points
A latex topper is one of the most effective ways to relieve sleep-related pain without replacing your entire mattress. The key is matching the right firmness to your specific issue.
Pressure-point pain in the shoulders or hips needs a softer topper that lets those areas sink in. A topper changes surface comfort; it does not establish the cause of pain or repair failed mattress support.
Not sure which applies to you? Tell us about your pain and we’ll recommend the right firmness and thickness.
Pure materials, independently certified. No synthetics, no shortcuts, no off-gassing.
Optional Cover
Add a removable, zippered organic cotton cover for extra protection. It is soft, breathable, and helps keep dust and moisture away from the latex.
You can add the discounted matching cover in the builder, or view the standalone organic topper cover.
Organic Latex
Every Dunlop latex layer we sell is GOLS-Certified Organic, the strictest worldwide certification for organic latex. It covers the supply chain from rubber tree farming through manufacturing conditions and fair trade practices.
Every certification involves independent, third-party testing, not self-reported claims.

Our topper is a single latex layer, available in 2-inch or 3-inch thickness. Dunlop is the GOLS organic option; Talalay is the 100% natural option. The cover is an optional extra. Firmness and thickness are separate choices: more thickness does not automatically mean more firmness.

A 2-inch topper adds noticeable comfort and pressure relief, ideal if your current mattress is close to right but needs fine-tuning. It’s also a great choice for stomach sleepers who want support without extra height.A 3-inch topper creates a more dramatic change in feel. It’s better for mattresses that need a significant firmness adjustment, for side sleepers who want deep pressure relief, or for anyone who wants a plush, pillow-top experience. Not sure which thickness? 100% Natural Talalay is bouncier and more pressure-relieving. It has a softer, cloud-like feel. Best for side sleepers and anyone who wants cushioning. Available in X-Soft through X-Firm.GOLS-Certified Organic Dunlop is denser and more supportive. Best for back and stomach sleepers, or heavier individuals who need more structure. It depends on what you’re trying to fix:
No. A topper follows the mattress beneath it and cannot restore worn-out support. Use a topper to adjust the surface feel of a mattress that is still supportive. If your bed has persistent dips or broken-down support, consider replacing it. Compare our customizable latex mattress.
No, the opposite. Natural latex has an open-cell structure that allows airflow. Unlike memory foam toppers that trap body heat, a latex topper actually helps dissipate warmth. If you currently sleep on a memory foam mattress that runs hot, adding a latex topper on top can actually improve temperature regulation.
Absolutely, it’s one of the most popular uses. A latex topper on top of memory foam gives you:
Yes, a Twin XL latex topper is a major upgrade over standard dorm mattresses. It adds real comfort and pressure relief with non-toxic materials. Unlike cheap foam toppers that flatten within months, a latex topper lasts all four years of college and beyond.
The term describes the rubber component: natural rubber rather than a blend with synthetic rubber. Finished latex foam also uses processing ingredients; it is not unprocessed tree sap. Our Dunlop option is sold as GOLS organic latex and our Talalay option as 100% natural latex. See material documentation and its scope.
Both come from rubber tree sap and feel the same. The difference is certification.Organic latex is certified by GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard) with strict rules for the entire supply chain, from farming to manufacturing to fair labor practices.100% natural latex is the same high-quality material without the organic certification. We offer both: GOLS-certified organic Dunlop and 100% natural Talalay or Dunlop. (Note: organic Talalay doesn’t exist because the Talalay process can’t meet GOLS requirements.)
Our latex is tested and certified by multiple independent organizations:
Our topper is available in GOLS organic Dunlop or 100% natural Talalay latex. Certification documents apply to the named material, supplier and scope; they are not a guarantee that every person will tolerate every material. Read the material documentation.
Synthetic latex (SBR) is petroleum-based foam designed to mimic natural latex. It’s cheaper but contains the same chemicals found in conventional foam.Blended latex mixes natural and synthetic, typically 30% natural and 70% synthetic.Always look for 100% natural or GOLS-certified organic. We use only 100% natural and certified organic latex, never synthetic or blended.
Yes, depending on the type of back pain:Lower back pain from a too-soft mattress: A Firm Dunlop topper adds support and prevents your hips from sinking, keeping the spine aligned.Pressure-point pain from a too-firm mattress: A Soft Talalay topper lets your shoulders and hips sink in just enough for relief.Tell us about your back pain and we’ll recommend the right firmness and thickness.
Yes, this is one of the most common reasons customers buy our toppers. Side sleepers with shoulder pain need a surface that lets the shoulder sink in to relieve pressure. We recommend a Soft or X-Soft Talalay topper in 3-inch thickness for maximum shoulder relief. The extra inch of material gives the shoulder more room to settle without bottoming out.
Most people with latex sensitivities can use a natural latex topper safely. During manufacturing, extensive washing removes nearly all allergy-causing proteins. You also never touch the latex directly, it sits under your sheets, protector, and optional cover. If you have a severe latex allergy (anaphylaxis risk), consult your doctor first. Call us at (800) 625-4042 with questions.
Natural latex can have a rubber scent, especially after unboxing. Odor strength and how long it lasts vary. We do not promise an odor-free product or zero emissions. Air the topper in a dry, ventilated room and follow the care instructions; contact us if you have questions about a specific material.
Natural latex has a naturally grippy surface that stays in place on most mattresses. A fitted sheet over the topper holds it even more securely. If you have a particularly slippery mattress cover, our optional zippered topper cover adds extra grip.Sliding is rarely an issue with natural latex, it’s much grippier than memory foam or polyester toppers.

Free shipping to the 48 contiguous United States. We do not currently ship toppers to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, US territories, APO/FPO addresses, or freight forwarders.
Latex toppers ship compressed and boxed. Most latex topper and latex layer shipments use one of two box sizes: 12" x 12" x 46" or 16" x 16" x 43".The exact box and weight depend on the topper size, thickness, latex type, and firmness. Natural latex can vary by about 3-5 lb from piece to piece, so published weights should be treated as close estimates rather than exact guaranteed weights. When possible, multiple latex layers may ship in the same box. For example, up to two King soft or medium layers can often fit in one box, while firmer King layers may ship one per box to stay under carrier weight limits.
Weight depends on size, thickness, latex type, and firmness. Firmer latex is denser, so each range below runs from Soft (lighter) to X-Firm (heavier). Natural latex also varies by about 3–5 lbs piece to piece, so treat these as close estimates.

Every topper ships compressed in a single manageable box, so you never have to carry it at full expanded size.
Spot clean only, warm water and mild soap. Never machine wash or fully submerge the latex.Let it air dry completely before putting sheets back on. Moisture trapped inside latex can cause mold.Never expose latex to direct sunlight. UV causes oxidation and breakdown.Best care tip: Use a waterproof mattress protector on top to keep it clean. Prevention is easier than cleaning.
A cover isn’t required, your topper works perfectly under a fitted sheet. But our optional organic cotton zippered cover offers benefits:
Talalay (softer firmnesses): 6–10 years.Dunlop (firmer, denser): 8–15 years. Both far outlast memory foam toppers (2–4 years) and polyester/down alternatives (1–3 years). Using a protector and keeping the topper out of direct sunlight maximizes lifespan.
